Thunderbird Hotel stood among the earliest resorts on the Las Vegas Strip, opening in 1948 when the desert corridor was still finding its identity. A Southwestern-themed jewel, it helped shape the blueprint for what a Strip casino could become. Long before the megaresorts arrived, places like the Thunderbird gave Las Vegas its first real sense of permanence.
