Shenandoah, Pennsylvania was a hard coal town when the Hungarian Rioters joined the Central Penn. League, established in 1888. Born from the immigrant communities that powered the anthracite mines, the team carried a name forged in the identity of its people. Baseball gave those miners something beyond survival.
