Opening in 1948 as only the fourth resort on the Las Vegas Strip, the Thunderbird arrived when that desert highway was still more promise than boulevard. Borrowing its name from Southwestern legend, it tied postwar glamour to the land beneath it. Crowds filled its showroom and tables for nearly three decades. The modern Strip grew from places like this. Part of our Vintage Las Vegas collection, celebrating the defunct golden era venues of yesteryear.
The Details:
Thunderbird line art in white stands in a frontal pose, hooked beak turned right, with a jagged crest, scalloped rectangular wings, zigzag body markings, and bold sans-serif "THE" above white brush script "Thunderbird" crossing the wings. Rounded white hand-drawn capitals arc beneath the talons, reading "LAS VEGAS, NEVADA."
