Jackson's Mississippians took the field in 1934 as part of the Class C East Dixie League, bringing organized baseball to a city hungry for summer competition. Mississippi's capital had seen clubs come and go, but this squad carried the pride of the whole state in its name. Some teams burn bright and brief, leaving only memory behind. Part of our Defunct Baseball collection, inspired by the vintage Minor League teams of yesteryear.
The Details:
Arched distressed maroon text reads "JACKSON, MISS." above smaller text reading "CLASS C BASEBALL" and "EAST DIXIE LEAGUE" on the left, with "EST'D 19 34" in block letters on the right. A distressed maroon vintage hand-drawn portrait of a baseball player in a cap is framed within a state-of-Mississippi silhouette. Below, large baseball script reads "Mississippians" with a swooping tail underline and a small star beneath.
