Danville's Tobaccoists took the field in 1905 as part of the Virginia North Carolina League, carrying the identity of a city built on tobacco. Class C clubs like this one were the soul of small town summers. Before television, these teams gave Danville, Virginia something to gather around on long Southern evenings.
