Greenville's Mountaineers joined the South Carolina League in 1907, bringing Class D baseball to the upstate foothills. Small town minor league clubs like this were the backbone of the sport, embedding the game in communities that lived and died with every inning. Greenville, South Carolina earned its baseball identity in those early decades.
Part of our Defunct Baseball collection, inspired by the vintage Minor League teams of yesteryear.
