All Star Lanes stood at 5200 Dempster Street in Skokie, Illinois, a gathering place rooted in the postwar bowling boom of the 1950s. Leagues filled every lane on weeknights, and that ORchard exchange phone number connected neighbors to something bigger than a game. Bowling alleys like this one held suburban communities together long before anyone needed an app.
