Alton Blues baseball club brought small-town Illinois its own piece of the national pastime, established in 1917 along the Mississippi River bluffs. In an era when local ball clubs were the pride of every river town, Alton's squad gave working families something to rally around on summer evenings. Some teams belong to history, but they never really leave. Part of our Defunct Baseball collection, inspired by the vintage Minor League teams of yesteryear.
