Bloomington's Bengals took the field in 1937 as part of the Illinois minor league circuit. In an era when small-city baseball clubs were the soul of their towns, the Bengals gave Bloomington, Illinois something to rally around on warm summer nights. Some teams leave behind trophies, others leave behind memories woven into a community's identity.
