El Rancho Motel stood along Motel Drive in Fresno during the mid-century heyday of California highway travel. That stretch was once lined with motor courts competing for drivers passing through the Central Valley. Swimming, cocktails, a neon sign, and a phone number were all the advertising a place needed.
