Fort Wayne's Kekiongas, established in 1866, hold a singular place in baseball history. On May 4, 1871, they played in the very first professional league game ever recorded in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Some teams win championships, but the Kekiongas claimed something rarer, the first pitch of professional baseball itself. Part of our Defunct Baseball collection, inspired by the vintage Minor League teams of yesteryear.
The Details:
Distressed navy arched text reads "KEKIONGAS" above vertical pinstripes extending from a diamond shape containing an ornate gothic "K" monogram. "ESTD" and "1866" flank the diamond, with italic script reading "Fort Wayne" and "Indiana" below. Block serif text reads "BASEBALL CLUB" beneath a decorative swoosh, flanked by small stars.
