Gary's Sand Fleas took the diamond in 1910 as part of the Class D Indiana-Michigan League, representing a steel town already forging its identity. Minor league clubs like this one gave working families in Gary, Indiana something to rally around beyond the mills. Short-lived teams often leave the deepest marks on a city's memory. Part of our Defunct Baseball collection, inspired by the vintage Minor League teams of yesteryear.
