Jack Dempsey's stood on Broadway between 49th and 50th in Manhattan, a restaurant that drew crowds from the 1930s through the 1970s. Named for the heavyweight champion, it became a crossroads where tourists and celebrities shared the same room. Walking in meant belonging to New York City.
