Johnie's Coffee Shop opened in 1956 at 6101 Wilshire Boulevard on the Los Angeles Miracle Mile, a gleaming example of Googie architecture and space-age optimism. More than a diner, it became a neighborhood landmark that outlasted the era it was built to celebrate.
