Kalamazoo's Celery Pickers took the diamond in 1887 as part of the Ohio State League, carrying a name rooted in the region's booming celery farming industry. Kalamazoo, Michigan was once the celery capital of the nation, and its ballclub wore that agricultural pride without apology. Some team names tell you everything about a town's soul. Part of our Defunct Baseball collection, inspired by the vintage Minor League teams of yesteryear.
The Details:
Green ink depicts a baseball with "Ohio State League" text above large block letters reading "KALAMAZOO" and "CELERY PICKERS." Below, rows of small stars frame "Estd 1887" and "Kalamazoo, Michigan" separated by a vertical line. A distressed cartoon anthropomorphic celery stalk character strides forward with leafy tops sprouting from its head.
