Luchow's stood as a cathedral of German dining on East 14th Street, anchoring New York City's cultural life from 1882 for over a century. Grand orchestras played nightly while the city's artists, writers, and theater crowd gathered beneath its storied roof. Losing it felt like losing a piece of old New York itself. The Details:
Golden-yellow Gothic blackletter text reads "Luchow's" above red sans-serif text reading "RESTAURANT." A baroque-style crest in red and golden-yellow depicts ornate scrollwork surrounding a central tower motif, with "LUCHOW'S" integrated into the shield. Distressed off-white serif capitals read "110-112 EAST 14TH STREET" and "NEW YORK CITY" below.
