Marshalltown's Ansons took the field in 1914 as part of the Iowa State League. Class D ball meant everything to a small Iowa city that lived and breathed summer baseball. Before radio broadcasts and farm systems reshaped the game, towns like Marshalltown built their identity around clubs like this one.
