New Haven's Nutmegs took the field in 1892 as part of the Eastern League, representing a Connecticut city already steeped in collegiate tradition. Baseball in New Haven during the 1890s meant something beyond sport, binding factory workers and Yale men alike in shared devotion. Some clubs fade from the record books but never from the soul of a town. Part of our Defunct Baseball collection, inspired by the vintage Minor League teams of yesteryear.
