Newark's Idlewilds took the field in 1905 as part of the Ohio-Pennsylvania League, a Class C club grinding through the golden age of minor league ball. Small-town teams like this one gave Newark, Ohio a shared identity and something to rally behind on summer evenings. They were gone before long, but they mattered while they lasted. Part of our Defunct Baseball collection, inspired by the vintage Minor League teams of yesteryear.
The Details:
Arched distressed green block text reads "NEWARK" and "IDLEWILDS" across the top. A vintage hand-drawn illustration of a baseball player in a batting stance overlaps a green silhouette of Ohio, rendered in golden-yellow ink, flanked by green text reading "EST 1905" and cursive text reading "Newark Ohio." Green distressed text below reads "OHIO-PENNSYLVANIA LEAGUE" and "CLASS C BASEBALL CLUB."
