Newburgh's Hummingbirds took the field in 1946 as part of the North Atlantic League, bringing Class D minor league baseball to the Hudson Valley. Small-town teams like this one were the foundation of postwar America's baseball boom. They gave communities something to gather around when the country needed it most.
Part of our Defunct Baseball collection, inspired by the vintage Minor League teams of yesteryear.
