Newton's Railroaders took the field in 1909, carrying the identity of a Kansas railroad town into the Western League. Baseball and the rails built communities across the Great Plains, and Newton sat at the crossroads of both. Some teams are remembered not for championships, but for the towns that needed them.
Part of our Defunct Baseball collection, inspired by the vintage Minor League teams of yesteryear.
