Riverside's Rubes played in the Sunset League starting in 1947, representing a proud chapter of minor league ball in Southern California. Small town teams like this one were the backbone of postwar baseball, giving communities something to rally around. Riverside didn't just field a team, it claimed one as its own.
Part of our Defunct Baseball collection, inspired by the vintage Minor League teams of yesteryear.
The Details:
Arched white serif text reads "RIVERSIDE" above a golden-yellow mid-century cartoon mascot in a batting stance, wearing a hat and holding a bat with a goofy exaggerated grin. White cursive script reads "Rubes" alongside the mascot, with golden-yellow text below reading "Est. 1947." White block text reads "BASEBALL CLUB" above a smaller golden-yellow line reading "SUNSET LEAGUE . RIVERSIDE, CA."
