Tahitian Village in Downey opened July 11, 1961 as a glamorous, upscale Polynesian themed motel, complete with restaurant, bar, music, dancing and nightly floor shows decorated by Oceanic Arts. It became a favorite haunt for Apollo and Gemini astronauts working nearby, even hosting some of them on site. Sadly, after years of decline and code violations it closed in the mid 1990s, was renamed La Zona Rosa briefly, and by 2000 the iconic tiki‑A‑frame was razed to make way for a strip mall. Printed on our sturdy 100% cotton long sleeve T-Shirt. Or upgrade to our Luxury cotton/poly vintage heather blend for an even softer classic look.
