The Colony restaurant held court inside Kansas City's Ambassador Hotel on Broadway at 36th, a gathering place that defined mid-century dining in the city. Opening during the 1950s, it carried the polish and ambition of an era when hotel lounges were cultural landmarks. Some rooms just held that kind of gravity. Part of our Vintage Restaurant collection, celebrating the classic American menus of yesteryear.
The Details:
Red scrollwork border frames a mid-century illustration of a building exterior with a diamond-patterned facade, starburst stars, and gold vertical stripes. Cream script reads "The Colony" across a marquee, with "AMBASSADOR HOTEL" in smaller lettering on the building. Lower text in cream and white reads "Restaurant and Lounge in the AMBASSADOR HOTEL" and "BROADWAY at 36th - KANSAS CITY, MO."
