Thunderbird Lanes opened along Rand Road in Mt. Prospect, Illinois, during the mid-century bowling boom. League nights packed the house for decades, drawing families from across suburban Chicago. Some alleys just rented shoes, but Thunderbird built a neighborhood around the lanes.
