Thunderbird Lanes opened along Rand Road in Mt. Prospect, Illinois, during the mid-century bowling boom. League nights packed the house for decades, drawing families from across suburban Chicago. Some alleys just rented shoes, but Thunderbird built a neighborhood around the lanes. Part of our Retro Bowling collection, featuring the defunct alleys of yesteryear.
The Details:
A light blue thunderbird emblem with spread wings sits above dark outlined script text reading "Thunderbird Lanes" over a gold brushstroke splash. A light blue bowling ball and a stylized bowling pin with black motion lines appear within the gold area. Dark serif and sans-serif type below reads "821 E. Rand Road, Mt. Prospect, ILLINOIS" and "PHONE 392-0550."
