Greenville's Mountaineers took the field in 1907 as part of the South Carolina League, bringing Class D baseball to the upstate foothills. Small town minor league clubs like this one were the backbone of the sport, rooting the game in communities long before television changed everything. Greenville, South Carolina earned its baseball identity in those early decades. Part of our Defunct Baseball collection, inspired by the vintage Minor League teams of yesteryear.
