Waiohai Hotel and Bungalows stood on the beach at Poipu in Koloa, Kauai, welcoming travelers from the 1960s through the early 1980s. Before resort development transformed the south shore, this was where visitors first fell in love with Kauai's quieter side. Some places shaped how the world discovered a coastline.
