Lafayette, Indiana fielded its Maroons in 1909 as a Class D club in the Northern State of Indiana League. Minor league baseball meant everything to small Midwestern towns in that era. Clubs like these gave communities a team to rally behind long before television changed how America watched the game. Part of our Defunct Baseball collection, inspired by the vintage Minor League teams of yesteryear.
The Details:
Arched distressed maroon serif text reads "LAFAYETTE" across the top. A maroon silhouette of Indiana contains a vintage hand-drawn batter in a batting stance with a star marking Lafayette's location, flanked by "LAFAYETTE, INDIANA EST 1909" on the left and "CLASS D BASEBALL CLUB" on the right. Block letters reading "MAROONS" sit below, followed by decorative script reading "Northern State of Indiana League."
