Newport's Colts took the diamond in 1897, representing a proud Rhode Island port city during baseball's raw, formative years. Minor league clubs like this one gave coastal New England towns a sense of identity and summer ritual. Long before television changed everything, these teams belonged to the people who filled the stands. Part of our Defunct Baseball collection, inspired by the vintage Minor League teams of yesteryear.
