Richmond's Quakers took the diamond in 1908 as part of the Indiana-Ohio League, bringing Class D baseball to a small city that lived and breathed the game. Before radio broadcasts, towns like Richmond, Indiana gathered at the ballpark as civic ritual. Some clubs vanish from the record books but never from the soil they played on. Part of our Defunct Baseball collection, inspired by the vintage Minor League teams of yesteryear.
The Details:
Arched blue text reads "INDIANA-OHIO LEAGUE" above the numerals "19" and "08" flanking a distressed red illustration of a Quaker man in tricorn hat, long buttoned coat, knee breeches, and buckled shoes. Blue block letters read "RICHMOND" above larger "QUAKERS" with smaller blue text reading "CLASS D BASEBALL CLUB" below. Blue italic script reads "Richmond, Indiana" at the bottom.
