San Jose's Dukes took the diamond in 1892 as part of the California League, bringing Class B baseball to the Santa Clara Valley. Organized ball was still finding its footing out west. Communities rallied around clubs like these, stitching the sport into California life long before the majors ever looked toward the Pacific coast. Part of our Defunct Baseball collection, inspired by the vintage Minor League teams of yesteryear.
