Santa Cruz fielded the Sand Crabs in the California State League starting in 1888, during the earliest days of organized ball on the West Coast. Small town teams like these were the backbone of a sport still finding its footing beyond the East Coast. They carried a community's pride long before the major leagues looked westward. Part of our Defunct Baseball collection, inspired by the vintage Minor League teams of yesteryear.
The Details:
Arched distressed white text reads "SANTA CRUZ" above smaller curved text reading "CALIFORNIA STATE LEAGUE." A white crab illustration with a baseball for its body sits centered between "ESTD" and "1888," a small star above. Stacked white text below reads "SAND CRABS BASEBALL" over "SANTA CRUZ, CALIFORNIA."
