The Zombie Hut opened its bamboo doors in Sacramento during the early 1960s, becoming one of California's most authentic Polynesian-themed establishments outside of the Bay Area. This family-owned tiki sanctuary transported patrons from the Central Valley directly to an exotic South Pacific paradise, complete with hand-carved totems, tropical cocktails served in ceramic skulls, and the hypnotic rhythms of live Polynesian drum performances. The bar became legendary for its rum-heavy Zombie cocktails and immersive atmosphere that made locals forget they were hundreds of miles from any ocean. For over two decades, the Zombie Hut served as Sacramento's premier escape from reality, where the mai tais flowed freely and every night felt like a vacation in paradise.
