Hotel Mayflower stood on South Grand Avenue in Los Angeles, opening in the 1920s when downtown was the beating heart of the city. Grand hotels like this one anchored the cultural life of an entire district. Before the sprawl reshaped everything, South Grand was where travelers and locals alike found a sense of arrival. The Details:
