Ernie's stood as San Francisco's temple of fine dining from the 1930s through its final service in 1995. Nestled on Montgomery Street, it carried a quiet grandeur that drew everyone from local power brokers to Hollywood productions. Some restaurants feed a city, but Ernie's helped define what San Francisco dining meant for over six decades. The Details:
Baroque golden oval frame with Victorian scrollwork, shell motifs, and a small crown detail at the top surrounds red serif text reading "ERNIE'S" with a small tulip ornament below. Red condensed serif text beneath the frame reads "847 MONTGOMERY ST." above "SAN FRANCISCO."
