San Francisco's Pirates competed in the Pacific National League starting in 1903, during an era when independent leagues shaped West Coast baseball. Before the Giants ever crossed the bridge from New York, clubs like the Pirates gave the city its earliest diamond traditions. Some franchises vanish from the record books but never from the soil they played on. Part of our Defunct Baseball collection, inspired by the vintage Minor League teams of yesteryear.
