Baltimore's Canaries took the field in 1872 as part of the National Association of Professional Baseball Players, competing at Newington Park in Baltimore, Maryland. They represented a city already deeply rooted in the game, years before the modern major leagues existed. Some teams endure not for championships, but for the era they helped define.
Part of our Defunct Baseball collection, inspired by the vintage Minor League teams of yesteryear.
The Details:
Distressed golden-yellow script reads "Canaries" with a swooping tail, a small baseball above, and a banner below reading "BALTIMORE, MD." Below, bold outlined text reads "1872" beside a canary in flight wearing a baseball cap and gripping a bat in its talons, with "Newington Park" in smaller text. Arched text at the bottom reads "NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF PROFESSIONAL BASEBALL PLAYERS."
