Daimai Orions competed in Tokyo as part of Japan's Pacific League, established in 1958 during the postwar baseball boom. Corporate-backed and fan-adored, they carried the energy of a nation rebuilding itself through sport. Some franchises become time capsules of an era's collective joy.
